The very beginnings of Aeronautics in Banjaluka are connected with establishing of Aero Club as a part of Aeronautic Club, part of Narodna tehnika in 1933. Club was renamed after a National hero Rudi Cajevec after the WW2. The first skydiving jump in Banjaluka was made by women-an hero of its time Nevenka-Nena Licina Majc. In the Banjalukas Aero Club Sveti Ilija skydiving was growing along with the Banjaluka and came biggest in the 1970 and 1980. At that time Viktor Kupljenik was Instructor. He was Worlds Championship winner in target jumping discipline 1972.
Unfortunately, such fast development of Club was stopped by war in the EX Yugoslavia. Our members retained all equipment by taking a part in that war.
After the war, because of finances and other problems our club stopped with work. Even war was finished we had struggle for survival of our club.
During that struggle , members of skydiving section were struggling with greater power. Dusko Grmusa led the skydiving section.
Skydivers renewed there sport licenses , new crew of young skydivers enough jumps for licenses and have attend number of competitions. We were hosts for biggest Aero event, the 4 th Opened Skydiving Championship of Republic of Srpska. Bombing of Yugoslavia was during that competition so we were hosts for the 46 th Skydiving Championship of Yugoslavia. During preparations for these two competitions we successfully have repair our premises as well as airfield, which were in very bad shape.
With elevation of skydiving section, Aero club kept functioning and new elections in club, June 29 th 2001, gave new leaders of all sections in the club.
Then we were hosts for the 6 th Opened Skydiving Championship that started on October 12th till October 14th 2001 as well as the 7 th Championship of Republic of Srpska whose supporter was a President of RS. Mr. Dragan Cavic. All these manifestations were organized according to highest standards and they have set new standards for organizing competitions such are these.
Besides activities like these, we were attendees of different types of cultural and other manifestations and approved positions of this sport widely.
In the meantime, we succeeded in registering skydiving school and getting licenses for Wilga airplane after 12 years. Even got some new equipment as target sponge, wind direction pointer and some other staff. Then we got two brand new sets of wing type parachutes, the Navigator and Sky master with CYPRES. There is 15 modern parachutes in our possession, an UTVA-66 air plane for training and jumping at the moment. |
